Sambar Sadham- Saravana bhavan style
Ingredients
- Rice - 1 Cup
- Toor Dal - 1/2 Cup
- Oil - 1 tblsp
- Curry Leaves - to temper
- Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
- Red Chilli - 2 Nos
- Small Onion / Shallots - 1/2 Cup
- Tomato - 1 Nos (thinly sliced)
- Red Chilly Powder - 1 tsp
- Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
- Mixed Vegetables - 1 cup (Carrot, Beans, Drum stick, Potato, etc....)
- Tamarind Paste - 1/4 cup (Tamarind extract )
- Coriander leaves - for garnishing
- Jaggery - 1 tsp (for taste enhancing )
- Salt - to taste
- Ghee - 2 tsp
- Red Chilly - 5 nos
- Channa Dal - 1 tblsp
- Coriander Seeds - 2 tsp
- Fenugreek seed - 1/4 tsp
- Coconut - 2 tblsp
Cooking Method:
1.First Cooked the Rice & dal separately.
2.Thene heat the kadai and add all ingredients of " To roast and Grind "' items.
3.Then cool down the roasted items and grind it for coarse paste and keep aside.
4. Then heat the kadai and temper with the items given under " to temper " ingredients. then add curry leaves ,red chilli, onion one by one, and fried it well.
5. Then add tomatoes and fry till soft.
6.Then add turmeric powder, red chilly powder and all chopped veggies one by one.mixed it well .
7.When the veggies are half cooked, add the grinding sambar paste and tamarind extract . cooked it well.
8. Then add Cooked dal & rice and mixed it well.and add require salt. cooked it for 5 min in a slow flame.
9. Finaly add jaggery powder, ghee and coriander leaves. mixed it well. Sambar sadham is ready. Served with vadaam.
